+ Over 75 Years of age Health Assessments and Care Plans

We now have the option of having your over 75 Annual Health Assessment in the surgery by our Registered Nurse. After the assessment you return to the GP for the assessment results and for any referrals.

For patients who are unable to attend the surgery, MyCare nurses will visit, in their homes, and then patients return to their GP for assessment.

+ Aged Care Referrals

If you are considering starting the process of accessing funding for yourself, your partner or your parents under the Aged Care Funding Package then we can help you with the referral process. If you would like assistance doing this please call the surgery to organise an appointment with a doctor or our practice nurse.

+ Preventative Health Screenings for 45-49 year olds

Did you know that if you are between the ages of 45-49 you are eligible for a health assessment? The benefit of this health assessment is to address any modifiable lifestyle factors and prevent the development of serious illness when you are older. It is never too late to make changes and we are here to support you. If you would like to attend for assessment the please spek to your doctor or reception staff who can organise the appointment.

+ Blood Pressure Monitoring

Regular visits to your doctor are an important part of keeping your blood pressure under control.

+ Childhood Immunisations

All child immunisations as part of the NSW Immunisation Schedule are bulk-billed. When you bring your child in for their vaccination, it is recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register. Children are usually weighed and the child’s progress is checked. Please remember to bring your child’s blue book when you come in for immunisations.

+ Catch Up Immunisations For New Australian Migrants

If you’ve recently migrated to Australia, we’re able to help you catch up with your required Australian Immunisations. These will be recorded to the Australian Immunisation Registry in real time to ensure there are no hold-ups with any Visa, Permanent Residency or Citizenship requirements.

+ Cryotherapy

We are happy to treat skin conditions like warts, moles, skin tags, solar keratoses and others with cryotherapy (often called “Burning off” or “Freezing Off”).

+ Diabetic Care & Management

Comprehensive review of diabetic management and potential risks of diabetes.

+ Excisions and Biopsies of Skin Lesions

We’re fully equipped to perform excisions and biopsies of skin cancers and other benign lesions requiring further diagnosis.

+ General Consultations

General Consultations are available for between 10 and 15 minutes. Should you require a longer appointment time, please select “Long Consult” when booking through our website, or call our friendly front-desk team.

+ Hepatitis C Treatment

Dr Smart has had 20 years’ experience in the assessment, care and follow up of Hepatitis C.

+ Home Visits

If you need a doctor when we are closed, National Home Doctor Service is available from 6pm weeknights, 12 noon Saturdays through to 8am Monday morning and all day on Public Holidays.

The visits are bulk billed to anyone with a valid Medicare Card and a report is sent to our doctors on the next working day. Call National Home Doctor Service on 137 425.

+ INR Monitoring With Instant Results

For those patients on Warfarin or other blood thinning medication, our doctors are fully equipped to test and report on your INR levels at the time of consultation and advise medication management to ensure a steady and safe result.

+ Mental Health Assessments And Plans

We are able to organise Mental Health Plans so you can access Medicare rebates for mental health appointments with psychiatrists, psychologists and eligible social workers and occupational therapists.

Please make a “Mental Health Plan” appointment when booking with our online bookings platform, or speak to our friendly front-desk staff when calling.

+ Minor Surgical Procedures, Repair of Lacerations and Suturing

Please inform reception if you need an appointment for a surgical procedure so we can allow enough time.

+ Medical Certificates

Certificates can be issued for school or work but a doctor must be seen on the day, as certificates cannot be pre-dated.

+ Nursing Home Visits

Our doctors visit local nursing homes for patient care, please discuss with your GP details and a visit can be organised.

+ Mens Health

We are able to provide a range of services for men looking after their health, including cardiovascular risk assessment, prostate and sexual health, preventative health, skin checks, heart health and mental health.

+ Pre-Employment Medicals

We can provide Pre-employment health checks and employee vaccinations when required.

+ Test Results

Patients must see the doctor to obtain test results. To protect confidentiality and privacy, no results will be given over the phone or by email.

+ Skin Cancer Care and Complete Skin Examinations

All doctors are trained in skin cancer management. Please book a skin check appointment with your preferred doctor. Dr Smart and Dr Healey bulk bill skin checks.

Dr Renu and Dr Thakur have extra training in skin cancer management and charges between $75 and $140 for their consultations (Medicare rebate is processed at time of consultation).

+ Travel Medicine

We can provide a wide range of vaccines required and health management for international travel, all around the world. Please keep in mind that many travel medicines and vaccines must be taken months before your trip. Make an appointment for an assessment of vaccines needed for your individual needs.

+ Womens Health Including Family Health And Antenatal Care

Support, counselling and contraceptive advice can be provided by Asquith Medical Center. We are able to administer Implanon NXT®, the contraceptive implant.

Breast checks, menopause, menstrual problems, contraceptive advice, pap smears and preventative health are areas our doctors can help you with.

+ Workers Compensation Claims And Consultations

Our doctors regularly care for patients under worker’s compensation claims. We can provide ongoing care, liaising with your employer or their representative to enable your smooth return to work.

The Vaccination Process

Asquith Medical Centre is proud to be a part of the Covid-19 Vaccination Rollout.

 

+What Vaccines Are Available?

The Pfizer Comirnaty Vaccine is available at Asquith Medical Centre. The vaccine is available for all patients over the age of 5. Moderna Bivalent is avaialble for people over the age of 18 as a booster.

+Who can get the vaccine?

Everyone in Australia is elgible to receive a Covid-19 vaccine. If you have a compromised immune system or allergies then please discuss the vaccine with your doctor or specialist. Your suitability for vaccination will be discussed with the nurse of doctor at the time of your appointment.

Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning pregnancy should discuss receiving the vaccine with a doctor prior to immunisation. The Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine is recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

+What about children?

Vaccine doses are available for all children over the age of 5. Children 5-11 years of age are given a specific paediatric dose of the Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine.

We welcome the opportunity to answer any of your questions about the safety and the benefit of getting your child vaccinated. Please feel free to call the surgery to make an appointment with a GP or our Practice Nurse to discuss.

+How many doses are part of the Covid-19 vaccine?

The Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine for all individuals over the age of 12 has a dose interval of a 3 weeks.

For children aged 5 to 11 years a dose interval of 8 weeks is recommended. This can be shortned in times of outbreak, planned immunotherapy or international travel.

Please discuss any concerns about the interval between doses with the GP or Practice Nurse at the time of your appointment.

+What about booster shots?

Booster shots have been made available for all individuals over the age of 16, 3 months after their second dose. Booster vaccinations are given with the Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine. Over the age of 18, Moderna Bivalent is available.

Some patients are eligible for a third vaccination 2 months after their second dose. This includes patients who are currently immunocompromised.

Patients over the age of 65 who have had their booster vaccination are eligible for a second booster 4 months after their first. This can be given on the same day your receive your flu vaccine.

+Can I have a booster if I have been diagnosed with Covid-19?

If you have recently been diagnosed with Covid-19 it is still important to get a booster vaccination. You must be well and fully recovered from your covid infection prior to vaccination. If you have any questions about the timing of your booster vaccination please make a telehealth appoint with one of our GPs to discuss suitability.

+How can I book for my vaccine appointment?

You can call the clinic directly on 94773755 or use the My Health 1st Mobile App to book your appointment.

All new patients must use the My Health 1st Mobile App to book their vaccine appointment.

+Are There Side Effects With The Vaccine?

As with all vaccines there is the possibility of side-effects which range from common to very rare. Before you receive the vaccine you will be provided with information on potential side-effects and have the opportunity to discuss them with the doctor or nurse.

+How long will my appointment take?

Expect to be at the clinic for 30 minutes. This includes consultation with the doctor or nurse, the vaccination process and remaining in our waiting room for a minimum of 15 minutes after.

+Can I come if I'm not a patient of the clinic?

YES! We welcome all members of the public at our clinic to participate in the vaccination program.

All new patients must book in for their vaccination via the online booking system. If your desired vaccine is not available please check this website daily for updated information.

If you are coming from a different medical practice a Health Summary from your regular GP must be sent prior to your appointment or brought with you. Please also download the New Patient Information Form on the home page and bring to your appointment.

+Do I have to pay?

There is no charge for the vaccine and it is bulk billed under Medicare. If you do not have a medicare card then you can attend Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital to be vaccinated with no charge.

+Can I talk to the doctor about something else at the same time?

NO. If you want to talk to the doctor about another medical issue including prescriptions or referrals please make a separate appointment.

+What about the Flu vaccine?

The 2022 Influenza vaccine is now available. Asquith Medical Centre has both government fund and private doses available. Private doses are $20. The influenza vaccination and covid booster vaccination can be given on the same day.

If you would like to book in for the flu vaccine and Covid booster vaccine please call the clinic and let the staff know.

+Vaccination Certificates

Clinic staff will upload your vaccination details to the Australian Immunisation Record. You can access a vaccination certificates through your MyGov and Medicare records. The turn around time for this is approximately 24-48 hours.

A few days after your appointment please access MyGov or Medicare online to check for your Covid vaccine history. If you cannot locate it, please call the clinic on 9477 3755 and we will follow it up for you. The sooner you advise us of any potential problems, the quicker we can resolve it for you and you can access your certificate.
